The Direct Ignition Advantage

   What separates Electromotive's sophisticated Engine Control from those of other manufacturers, is its patented, industry leading Direct Fire Ignition system. With both the stand-alone HPX ignition systems and the Total Engine Control systems, Electromotive utilizes a 58-tooth crank trigger wheel. This “high resolution” signal feeds continuous information to custom ignition chips so that error is virtually eliminated. This "high resolution" circuitry is used to accurately determine both the coil charge time and the Ignition Event in actual angular values (degrees of crank rotation). This eliminates the dynamic error that the competition suffers from. Others may claim 1/4 degree accuracy, but without this accurate crankshaft position information, they're just wishing.

   Every Engine Control system from Electromotive uses multiple ignition coils and advanced, automatically adjusting dwell circuits to assure the coils are fully charged every time. The powerful spark of this patented system delivers this full spark energy directly to the plugs without misfires. Unlike multi-spark CD systems that from around 3000 RPM just give you a single very short duration spark, Electromotive puts a full 150mJ of spark energy to the plugs with a spark duration more than ten times the duration of a CD spark from idle to 9600 RPM. This long duration spark makes more power!

   FIRST SOLUTION: the C.D.(Capacitive Discharge) Ignition. This Ignition does not CHARGE the Ignition Coil, rather it uses the 1:100 Winding ratio as a TRANSFORMER. First the 12 volts of your electrical system is converted to 200-500 volts and stored in a CAPACITOR, when the SPARK is needed the CAPACITOR is DISCHARGED into your Ignition Coil, Instantly producing a SPARK of 30,000 to 50,000 volts with a DURATION of only 0.1 to 0.3 milliseconds (0.0003 seconds)... this is NOT A LONG SPARK !

   SUPERIOR SOLUTION: Multiple Coil Ignition Systems. By using an Ignition Coil for every pair of companion Cylinders, the TIME available to CHARGE an Ignition coil goes up by a factor of 4 on an 8cyl Engine. This allows you to use the advantages inherent in an INDUCTIVE SPARK... this uses only enough voltage to ARC the gap of the Spark Plug and dissipates the rest of the SPARK ENERGY in DURATION ! up to over 2 Milliseconds (that's over 90 degrees at 8000 RPM) This MAKES MORE POWER !

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
The venerable TEC³ has been revisited.
Your TEC³ computer just became even more powerful with the release of the new TEC3r... One controller for all applications - no longer are there two variants, but both configuration options of the TEC3 std and 6/12 have been combined in the new TEC3r. New configurable Injector Outputs allow either one or two high performance low resistance injectors to be used on each of the 8 injector drivers. The new starting circuitry from the XDI has also been incorporated.

The new TEC3r represents the current in state-of-the-art fuel injection and direct ignition control integrated into one revolutionary package. The TEC3 is a PC-programmable engine control system featuring a powerful Windows-based tuning environment. Converting from carburetion to fuel injection has never been easier than with the TEC3. Whether you choose to run throttle body injection, multi-port, or individual throttle bodies, the TEC3r will provide you with the ability to tune your engine to its peak capabilities.

Street enthusiasts will enjoy the benefits of a 'distributorless' ignition system that not only is infinitely adjustable, accurate, and powerful, but also gives you improved firewall clearance and freedom from all those ignition amplification boxes that you used to run in the past. If you are running an aggressive profile camshaft, idle control has always proven to be problematic for lesser engine management systems, but not for the TEC3r. Within the WinTEC software resides our exclusive 'TPS/MAP Idle Blend' table. With a few clicks of the keyboard, you will enjoy an idle quality that other engine management systems only dream of having.

For competition and ultra high output engines, the sophistication and power of the TEC3r system simply out-performs other production and aftermarket systems. With full control of the engine over all possible operating conditions, outputs that will control nitrous, boost, VTEC, and other devices, new rev-limiters with 'Triple Smooth' technology, and On-Board Data Acquisition, the TEC3 gives you Total Engine Control...and makes the competition green with envy!

THE TEC3 ENGINE CONTROL UNIT

The new TEC3 ECU incorporates the winning features of our previous TEC-2 system while adding an abundance of new features and a powerful new processing platform. Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) control and patented digital Direct Ignition control is standard hardware for every TEC3. The anodized, laser-etched ECU with waterproof OEM style connectors and harness may be mounted under the hood or in the passenger compartment and will activate separate multi-coil DFU?s (Direct Fire Units) mounted adjacent to (or on) the engine.

Electromotive, Inc., originators of the High Resolution Electronic Ignition Circuit, introduce the next generation High Performance Ignition System: the HPX. With an amazing 0.1 degree timing accuracy, the HPX is the most accurate ignition available. An integral rev-limiter can be set anywhere between 4,000 and 15,000 rpm. For drag racing an additional rev-limiter can be wired for staging and burnouts. For street applications, MAP sensors can be integrated to supply a "vacuum-advance". This allows increased ignition advance when under light load. Engines running single-stage nitrous oxide setups can benefit from the HPX's built-in timing retard feature, while engines running multiple stages of nitrous can use the Electromotive 4-Stage Nitrous Timing Retard module with the HPX. The beauty of the HPX distributorless ignition system is its simplicity. To obtain engine speed and position, a 60-2 tooth trigger wheel is attached to the crankshaft, and a magnetic sensor is aimed at the wheel. With knobs to adjust the spark advance at different engine speeds, the need for a computer in the tuning process is eliminated entirely. A robust billet aluminum casing houses the electronics and provides a solid mount for the coils. Best of all, the HPX can be mounted under the hood making it a quick and easy system to adjust and maintain.

Electromotive offers custom HPX kits for popular domestic and import applications. These kits include trigger wheel, magnetic sensor, and sensor bracket for a easy installation.

HPX's are currently available for 4, 6 and 8 cylinder piston engines, as well as 2, and 3 rotor applications.
