SPEC clutches are great! I had personally been using a SPEC Stage 3+ clutch with the aluminum pressure plate option in my 479 ft lb turbo 240Z before we decide to carry SPEC's line. I've had great results with their clutches (that's why we carry them!!!!)

Now available stage 3+ a streetable high clamping pressure and full face carbon semi-metallic disc offering torque capacities comparable to the Stage 5 but with the drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the Stage 3. Also, very trick, lightweight aluminum pressure plates. Why put a heavy pressure plate on a aluminum flywheel????

For Street Cars , use kits with street discs. The street disc is very smooth engagement, quiet operation and great drivability. Stage 1 offers a steel backing woven organic lining for improved performance and longevity. Stage 2 offers segmented chatter-free Kevlar disc for improved performance, better heat dissipation, and longevity. For high powered street car we recommend a Stage 3 clutch kit. Stage 3 offers a 3 piece sprung hub cooper ceramic race disc; giving a SHARP but smooth engagement and light pedal feel. Stage 3+ Features a streetable high clamping pressure and full face carbon semi-metallic disc. Listed as an upgrade to the Stage 3, it offers torque capacities more comparable to the Stage 5 but with the drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the Stage 3. The high capacity and excellent drivability characteristics of this clutch is a result of years of research and development for this SPEC exclusive disc compound.

For Race Cars , Weekend Racers, or High HP Cars, we recommend using Stage 3+ or a Stage 4 clutch kit. The race discs are made of copper ceramic and feature quick engagement, quick shifting, lightweight slid hub, durable and resistant to heat. The 6 and 3 pad race disc is good for race cars with little to no street driving.

High clamp pressure plate, steel-backed woven organic disk, bearings and tool.
Stage Two
High clamp pressure plate, segmented chatter-free Kevlar disc, bearings and tool.
Stage Three
High-clamp pressure plate, 3-piece disc with carbon or ceramic material, bearings and a tool.

SPEC Flywheels
   


We carry SPEC's full line of billet super light weight aluminum and billet steel flywheels. Your engine, gearing and vehicle weight are factors in determining which SPEC billet steel or billet aluminum flywheel is best suited for your application. Please inquire with an S & T MotorSports technical assistant for recommendations

BILLET ALUMINUM

SPEC billet aluminum flywheels are also CNC machined and exceed SFI standards for high stress racing applications. These units are recommended for highly modified street or racing vehicles, and for mildly modified street cars that can benefit from reduced rotating mass without the loss of daily drivability. Consult a S&T Motorsport technical assistant for recommendations on your specific needs. The body of the flywheel is made of tempered aluminums, either 6061 T6 or 2024T3, for ultimate strength and lightest possible weight. The 1/4 inch thick friction plate is a 1050 high carbon alloy, for incredible durability with any friction disc material, even iron. The plates are secured to the body by aerospace fasteners or stainless steel rivets, depending on the application. These fasteners were chosen because of their exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. The ring gears are pressed on and secured wit h grade 10 fasteners. The gear is also heat treated for longevity. They are effective, durable and almost too pretty to install! Typical weight is 10 lbs.

BILLET STEEL

SPEC billet steel flywheels are machined from the highest quality materials and exceed SFI safety standards for high rpm racing applications. They are precision ground to mate perfectly to the crank with minimum run out and provide a true and reliable surface to mate with the variety of friction materials we offer. They are recommended for heavy vehicles in a drag racing application and for mildly modified street/strip cars.

The '05-'06 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing. This unit is a dealer only item. Therefore these kits will not include a throwout bearing. SPEC will be offering a billet replacement as an option to the kit beginning July 2006. Please call for additional information.
